The sad part is that these departments have (or had) policies and law surrounding how this data is used.
But the courts / SCOTUS have effectively allowed them to ignore the law by handing the data over to DOGE. Now the law doesn't matter, citizens may get hurt, and the President who is responsible / is more equal than others from just about anything these days.
