Sounds interesting! I am new to trading, and I could use a decision engine to help me with my trading decisions.

Being new to trading is actually an advantage you can build good decision-making habits from the start rather than breaking bad emotional ones later

Omar here, co-founder of Ooln. I'm the psychologist from the title.
My background is in performance psychology, where I've worked with top athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLB, and MLS to help them master their mindset under pressure. My co-founder, Andri, has a background in Machine Learning and is a CFA charterholder.
The hard truth was, even with our combined expertise, we kept blowing up our personal trading accounts.
That failure was the catalyst for Ooln. We realized that the difference between winning and losing wasn't knowledge or analysis; it was the ability to manage your own psychology in the heat of the moment.
We found this was a universal problem when we spoke to professional hedge fund managers. They admitted that while they were disciplined at work, they made the same emotional mistakes with their own money.
So, we decided to build the solution we all needed: a real-time decision engine for traders.
What it is:
Ooln is a decision engine that scans the market and distills the chaos into a single, clear, actionable trade plan based on your risk profile. It’s designed to provide a rational, data-driven framework right when your own psychology is working against you. It's the tool that finally got us, and our early users, to trade with consistency.
The hard part (how it works):
The biggest challenge was delivering this analysis in real-time ML model. Our lead engineer from CMU, Seva, designed a distributed architecture on Google Cloud Run to solve this. It splits the work into a few layers: a pool of Cloud Run workers process all the tickers in parallel, writing results to a GCS cache. The FastAPI endpoint that you hit only ever reads from this cache, which allows for sub-second responses. A scheduler then triggers a full market refresh every 30 seconds during trading hours. This setup keeps the user experience fast while the heavy lifting happens in the background.
The Offer for HN:
We have a standard 5-day free trial. But for the Hacker News community, we wanted to offer something more valuable than just a longer trial.
10 people from the first 100 HN sign-ups will be randomly selected for a free, private 1-on-1 mental performance session with me.* We can talk about trading psychology or whatever is on your mind.
We're a small, funded team trying to solve a problem we're deeply passionate about. Our business model is a $20/month subscription after the trial.
We're launching here first for the honest feedback. You can try it at:
