Author here. This article explores something uncomfortable: when folks who who say "hiring software testers causes more harm than good" are actually onto something.

I’ve seen what happens when teams hire software testers without knowing what they actually need. They chase automation fixes for deeper org problems. Or they expect quick wins without giving software testers any real influence. And when things don’t improve, they decide hiring software testers “doesn’t work.”

In the article I dig into the failure patterns I’ve seen most often and what teams that do get real value from software testers do differently.
