Such a precedent will encourage more audacious actions by Islamist regimes around the world, who can start bloody wars they're guaranteed to lose, yet manage the optics in such a way to gain international sympathy from the Western Left, and the Islamic diaspora.

Hamas has pretty much succeeded on that front - I've been in professional meetings where people randomly bring up "muh genocide in Gaza and we can't talk about it", when I'm the one who would get fired if I challenged them.
