imagine pouring millions into branding and implementing bigger screens when the new tablestakes is 360 surround video via high density LED. With this type of "innovation" missing the bigger movement going on in wraparound video content and display they are cooked.
I can't even google showtimes anymore. I'm not sure the deal, it seems local theatre companies just won't inform Google when a movie is coming out. Sometimes I hear about a movie I want to see, and I can't find out whether it will be on screens next week or next year. It's the information age. We live in it.
Then I get 30 minutes of ads at the theatre, which is basically the movie theatre telling me loudly that I am boorish lowbrow unculvtivated trash for showing up and giving them my money at all. It's a fully enshittified experience with or without an Imax screen. I don't want to give the multiplexes my money because they hate me and they're explicit about it.
The repetoire theatre is OK. they don't beat me into subissiom with humiliating and degrading advertisements, and it's easy to look up their screening schedule months in advance.
