Kind of transparent in that the only people it allows to have a third term are Trump and Grover Cleveland. (Remember, there is no maximum age limit for the presidency.)

Hmm. Constitutionally, is being dead a disqualification?

The 25th amendment says that "In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President." But it doesn't say what happens if the president starts out dead. The 25th amendment also provides for the VP and a majority of the cabinet to be allowed to declare the president unfit, but in a world where a dead person gets elected things may be sufficiently weird that they wouldn't do this.

also see the 20th amendment: "If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President." So it seems like a dead person can be elected but cannot serve.

Add an age limit and public senility test and all is good.

It's performative nonsense. There is very nearly zero chance that such an amendment would actually pass (remember that it has to be ratified by 2/3rd of the states), and even if it did, it would take decades and Trump would be dead before it happened.

Disgustingly groveling pandering.

And, only if they were disjoint terms? They want Trump to be able to run again, but not Obama or Clinton. And they have reason to want to stack the deck in this way, because Trump would probably lose to either of them.

I don't know about Clinton. My first thought is that he's too old. But maybe that doesn't matter any more, and he and Trump were born a couple months apart.

There was a poll in April that polled Obama vs Trump, though, and had Obama winning 53-47: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politic...
