I think a lot of these policy makers straight up do not know that AI as it stands now is just some fancy math with words.
At the same time I'm sure plenty of them love the idea that they have a black box they can tell someone to manipulate and then declare "if the black box says so it's the truth and nobody can argue / see inside the box".

Generally, the right is to have a face-to-face confrontation with witnesses who are offering testimonial evidence against the accused in the form of cross-examination during a trial. The Fourteenth Amendment makes the right to confrontation applicable to the states and not just the federal government.
