Virginia is for data centers? Residents are increasingly saying no

Seems strange to include this quote: “To increase [generation] by 40 gigawatts is to almost triple our entire grid for one industry … and to do that for one industry is absolutely unprecedented”

The grid doesn’t follow state lines… and PJM is already supporting nearly 160GW peak load (https://www.gridstatus.io/live/pjm). There’s no reason to examine Virginia in isolation.

And “one industry”, as if we should peanut-butter-spread generation to every industry? Obviously some industries need more electricity than others.

Virginia already has 100x as many data centers as any other state. Shifting a few projects elsewhere can only be good for infrastructure decentralization.
