I will accomplish less in my life, and I am fine with it

It seems like some people get on the treadmill and obsessively run on it and reach for the stars, and it works for them (Elon Musk comes to mind).

But I find for myself, not just fulfillment but accomplishment comes in some way from giving up the big dreams.

Very practically speaking, I have some art projects, and what I learned from finally finish an album and a novella was:

It sucks.

Not in a bad way, I’m proud of the work I did, and I hope to accomplish more, but in many ways dreaming too big is a distraction to accomplishment, because a lot of the work is the boring grind of putting 2 hours aside every day for months at a time. And so getting into a routine that works, that you can relax into and not burn out and not be distracted by the dream is what really works.
