It regularly surprises me how often modern sites/apps/OSes fall flat when searching.

In my experience, Spotlight fell apart many years ago on macOS and nothing recently has made it feel like it is a trustworthy search result set.

Likewise, Windows search has been gutted since introducing Bing to the Start menu search instead of local searching. You can't even search content on a NAS anymore from File Explorer.

Apple Notes search is untrustworthy for me. Searching "starbuck" doesn't find "Starbuck's" in Notes. It's incomprehensible to me how often it won't find a simple phrase, not even a misspelling, just not indexed correctly I guess.

Postgresql is the only database with full text search that works better than all the above. I think I'd go with Postgresql before I rolled my own method.
