Remember iGoogle? A homepage you could actually make your own — weather, stocks, RSS feeds, email, and more, all in one view. It was discontinued in 2013, and I’ve never really found anything that scratched the same itch… until now.

Just stumbled on alfred_, which feels like a reimagined version of that idea, built for 2025. It’s a customizable dashboard with live widgets — market data, SEC filings, RSS readers, Pomodoro timers, research tools, and even AI integrations. You drag-and-drop what you need, and the whole thing syncs across devices (offline-first too).

Curious if anyone else misses this type of interface — a true command center for your digital life, not just another feed.

Cool.

Unfortunate naming: mock-up shows it on MacOS, but MacOS already has Alfred, which is well-known, widespread, and well-loved. "Dude, invoke Alfred real quick. No: I meant alfred underscore."

I forgot about iGoogle but yes, having a dashboard of user-selected and user-arranged information streams is great.

I think that's one place that OmniFocus falls short: sure it has Perspectives, but it won't let you create a dashboard of Perspectives, let alone with non-OmniFocus info. The closest we have is cobbling together widgets on the MacOS desktop, but that is feature-poor and leaves much to be desired.
