I mean, its not that surprising. It seems most AI labs have seen that the value they will be able to extract from providing the models is going to be a small part of the value created by AI models.

Compared to the value extracted by selling models, a significant portion will go to data center operators, so it makes sense that Google wants some of the openai compute, and openai wants lower costs/more capacity than what they can get with azure.

Google doesn't think it will be damaging its own ai business that much with this.
