I just can't watch these Apple keynotes without cringing constantly anymore. This is no longer the "... and we think you will like it!" cringe, I think Apple is seriously out of touch by now. Just the opening video screamed "enormous egos" and I have no idea who is this supposed to serve? That might have been maybe remotely funny a year or five ago, but in 2025 when Musk is faking game scores, Bezos marrying bimbo at their 300m wedding and Zuck wearing gold chaine, while they all play god with geopolitics, seeing Apple CTO and CEO using the platform to pretend they're tough F1 guys is seriously just tacky to say the least...
The fact they keep doubling down at gen/memojis, now with extra ChatGPT cringe, or the AI generated pep talk makes me wonder what kind of echo chamber do they have there, because there's no remote chance any 20-25 year old would bless any of this as 'cool'.
Do bear in mind that the Apple growth in 2010-2020 could easily be attributed to how kids needed Apple products to be cool. To the social pressure, with the Green Bubble Shaming being just one of its manifestations.
But the social pressure can quickly turn against them, as soon as some other business manages to show something cooler, call out Apple's cringe and the next gen collectively decides to dump Apple.
And I can personally see at least company aiming at doing exactly that: Nothing Tech. No cringe, they embraced modern, post-pandemic, deconstructionist trends and are actually properly cool, design-wise.
