The pragmatic programmer, having learned from their overconfidence in the past, resolves to build the simplest software possible, consciously avoiding the pitfalls of over-engineering.

Some software is complex because it has to be. Some is complex because some nimrod threw every new tech they could at it and filled it with features users will never use and couldn't be arsed to constrain it with automated tests. C'est la vie.
