Funny how AMD missed AI and was always #2 in the game industry but kept alive because being in both the Playstation, XBOX and Steam Deck meant that games would be developed for AMD GPUs, good drivers would exist, etc. Meanwhile NVIDIA really fell down with there being basically no games for the Shield (Does Pac-Man 256 count? Or the withdrawn Record of Agarest War port that Idea Factory did because Idea Factory will port or remake anything for cash? [1]) though I guess the design win with Nintendo was enough for them.

I mean, the Shield is basically still a smart TV, and a 10 year old platform at that. Complaining about it lacking games is like lambasting the AppleTV for not playing Red Dead Redemption. Nvidia was pretty clear that the Shield was a glorified game streaming client that circumstantially ran Borderlands 2.

Gaming is in a weird spot. I used to think everyone would be gaming by now but it seems we're still in this place where gaming is about shooting or playing arcade games with the occasional story driven AAA title.
I'm guessing despite technological advancements it's still much more difficult to make a good game than to make a good movie. Even VR did not result in wide adoption.
I'm still betting games will become the default way for consuming entertainment and a wide variety of experiences. AI does throw a wrench in this but it's only likely to accelerate this.

IMO we're a few years away from Nvidia abandoning gamers altogether because they'll need all the fab capacity they have for AI chips.
