"Reduce, Re-use, Recycle" was a phrase coined in the 70s. We are 50 years deep into people saying, "Oh, one more little bit of waste won't hurt anything." Well, guess what - it did.

While the author's comparisons are accurate, the conclusion is not. We absolutely should be reducing what we already use, not being OK with burning even more.

Even the conclusion is backwards: "All the changes we can make in our personal consumption choices are nothing compared to what we can do if we contribute to making the energy grid green. "

The reality is if we had spent the last 50 years reducing our consumption, we would already be at 100% green energy. We are still burning fossil fuels not because we cannot produce green energy, but because we keep increasing consumption.
