>She could barely believe that Chinese officials would care about a teenager living thousands of miles away.

The weirdness of authoritarian regimes seems to produce to these absurd situations in spades. The incentive of of making some people into distracting scapegoats never ends. Government officials tasked with finding these people never goes away so they're pushed to keep "finding" more of these people. Accordingly the endless types of speech or acts that are considered a transgression grows.

But hey it's great that she is saying the right things in the right place, because if she should use the words "Palestine" and "Action" in some kind of way that referenced GAZA, she would get deported to.......somewhere entirely, else

Right. Not quite a year ago, when we were in London, there was a massive pro-Palestinian demonstration and Parade around Picadilly. (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/palestine-solidarity-c...) But no doubt things are much different in Leeds, eh?

What is crazy is they used a mugshot of her when she was a child. That means people look at that and think it is ok to have arrest bounty on a child for political crimes.
