I think "Hacker" is a stretch in this instance. When you try and succeed at logging in with "123456" as a password... To permit McDonalds to say they were the victim of hacking is a disservice to organizations who have been hacked. They left the data unprotected and should be held liable for criminal negligence.

If something isn't bolted down, it isn't stealing taking it?

Bad security is a security issue.

And bolting on complex automation, and assigning "intelligence" to the automatic systems, and building and running things teams don't understand because they're enabled by automation are all security issues being worsened by current software marketing practices.

AI slop labor meets slop food. We're facing the McDonaldization of the whole culture at once. We're all affected by the health and quality consequences of this race to the bottom even if we don't personally eat their burgers.
