Ask HN: YC Co‑Founder Matching experience, most does not know core YC principles

What are other peoples experience using YC Co-Founder matching? I am in a Northern European capital and the YC founder matching seems like a good idea, but now I have been meeting with a few and most people seems unaware of even the basic YC core principles like launch early, find customers.

I was really hoping the YC platform could be a platform to meet people that agreed with those principles, like finding an idea together, talking to customers.

It seems almost like there should be a quiz or a checkbox for what core values of YC you believe in.

- [ ] Want to find a idea together - [ ] Have seen the YC Youtube videos about launching, tarpit ideas, talking to customers

I have been to the US, and would move if I could, but for many reasons it is not possible.

I have also been engaged in the startup community, but most people are not in the early phases. In the developer community, most people do not want to start a startup. Oh well.

It's been a great experience for me, but I didn't come in with any expectations.

I already knew how hard it is to find a cofounder, after many failed attempts. Even wrote a post about one of the attempts: https://developerwithacat.com/blog/062025/startup-incubator-...

I also knew what I wanted from a cofounder, and made it clear upfront.

I still had a ton of conversation that didn't go anywhere. And that's okay. At least I learned something new, or I talked to people about something that I like talking about, or I asked someone for their advice about an idea in a domain that they had expertise in.
