A concern in putting this crosswalk in is that it gives pedestrians false confidence that’s not backed up by the additional infrastructure commonly seen with actual crosswalks: flashing lights, reflective signs, audible walk signals for the blind, warning signs for oncoming traffic, etc. Doing this without those additional pieces is simply more dangerous than not having one at all.

I do feel for the guy, though. It is so frustrating that the city isn’t communicating more clearly as to _why_ they won’t put in a proper crosswalk.

That is nice, but I doubt any city can afford to put that at every single crosswalk. Assuming there are enough to have an actual walkable city. A street sign and pavement markings should be a minimum.proper curbing for the blind a first addition. I appreciate the concrete islands in the center of the street that are common in Europe (where cities are actually walkable).

I'm not sure a fake crosswalk is going to fix that.
