TLDR, the author is too lazy to write good commit messages so they've decided they are outdated.

This sums it up. Article just declares that it's easier to understand intent from a code diff than from someone explaining their intent. No thoughts behind it or evidence or even a hunch, just "that thing experienced devs say is wrong because I said so".
To OP - an article explaining why you think the above could be interesting. If you take that on, post it! Also if you decide to do that please include some examples, especially config changes and small, confusing diffs that folks advocating for commit messages with intent use as examples of why it's important.
