Ask HN: Is the current AI situation impacting your future decisions?

My wife and I are debating whether or not having a second kid. Why? We are in a financial good position right now. However, the current displacement of white-collar jobs may impact this position, and if it does, it will only get worse and worse for at least some years.

So, this made me wonder, is the current AI landscape impacting your future decisions like having kids, moving to another place, leaving your current job, etc?

Not a big (or personal) issue, but it's made me less keen on pursuing a blog site where I review virtual offices: https://officeshuffle.com

I explain the reasons in this post: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44445706

No, genAI hasn't impacted any decisionmaking on my part. It's far too soon to know what, if any, adjustments need to be made because of it. In my opinion, there are much larger and more immediate societal, economic, and governmental issues that have to be accounted for than genAI.

I read this post earlier today which I think is a good summary about the things that are going on right now

Yes, that's been making the rounds. While I do think that we're entering a period of substantial hardship, I don't think that genAI is the major reason for it. I have no doubt, though, that if genAI becomes what its advocates think it will become, it will be used in a way that will speed up the bad.
