All I want to say I am genuinely scared to express any opinion on this topic online or in any group outside of my closest friends as it seems you can get into a whole world of trouble for just stating certain obvious facts. Even right now I feel the need to tip toe around it, rather than just saying it outright.
I don't understand how we got to this point as a society.

The situation there is rather complicated with both sides committing atrocities so if you say anything much some people will think you are in favour of some atrocity or other.

Even within Israel it's extremely divisive. A member of the Knesset was suspended for calling the Gaza extermination a genocide.[1] Haaretz is comparing Gaza to the Warsaw Ghetto.[2]
Much of this is to keep Netanyahu in power. He needs a war to hold together his coalition.[3]
