As tragic as any passing is, I can't be the only one who feels uneasy about Hacker News being used to share general showbiz obituaries with no particular tech association. HN is one of the few havens from the various death and killing notices that seem to comprise most of the world's news these days. What place have Hollywood obituaries here?

I believe people are paying respects to a very talented (and in my opinion, criminally underrated) artist - not the "general showbiz" stuff.
We can appreciate Madsen's craft just the same as we appreciate other high-skilled artists and creators. There's no "rule" that everything must be tech-related here...

That's water under the bridge, unfortunately.
Even "political" stories with direct relevance to tech get flagged immediately but some random actor dies and it's fine to wallow in the shallow intellectual pool of mainstream culture because nostalgia I guess.
