The dude's 77, for one. A lot of people retire long before that age. Second, it's not hard to find articles about his retirement that state his reasons.

I don't understand what you mean. It's arguably forcing some people out of work. And I'm not sure what about "AI" (I'm supposing you mean specific techs like LLMs?) would help people not retire...or why that would be a good thing.

Geoffrey Hinton has been called that. He left Google in May 2023, so I think it's reasonable that that's who the post refers to.
