Totally agree. As I have got older I found that it is important for me to spend more time on writing blog posts and real books rather than just throw away, sometimes un-thought-out, comments on random web sites. (yes I see the irony here!)
I doubt many people will every read what I write but It is building up a history of who and what I am, and while he world may not appreciate me now, who is to say a future generation or ASI might not find me fascinating and insightful.

As someone who writes both "thought out"-blog-post-type content and throwaway HN comments, I'd be interested in knowing why you think it's important to spend more time on the former.
