We've gone from Jimmy Carter selling his peanut farm to ... this.
There has never been a more malicious, vindictive, incompetent, and embarrassing administration.

Corruption incarnate.

Without in any way minimizing the naked corruption and incompetence of Trump and his administration... come on. We had Nixon and Reagan, the former started the "War on Drugs" and the latter gutted the US mental health infrastructure. Just those two acts alone have probably led to more suffering, death, and needless horror than anything Trump has or will ever do. We had presidents who invaded Vietnam, who bombed Laos and Cambodia, who got almost 60,000 Americans and countless Vietnamese killed.
We have had worse, that doesn't mean that Trump isn't terrible and has no business in public life, but there's a point at which hyperbole becomes absurd.

Hindsight is 20/20. Let's see how the erosion of the foundations of the United States works out over the next 60 years. Frankly, just having an anti-vax as secretary of HHS will likely kill more than all the American deaths in Vietnam.

You have a point, we will have to wait and see, but my point is that we've had criminal, terrible, even catastrophic presidencies before: Trump is not the first and if we aren't honest with ourselves, he won't be the last.

The Trump Administration is destroying HHS and destroying pretty much all medical research. There will be millions who will needlessly die. Research on ailments such as cancer and Alzheimer’s will be set back decades. It will take generations to recover from this wanton destruction.
Honestly, RFK and Trump are perpetrators of one of the most evil acts ever by a US administration.

During the first administration, how much money could you openly give to Trump to curry his favor? You could give to his campaign, but as he learned the hard way he couldn't spend that money on anything fun. Or you could stay at his hotels, and only really give him a few thousand dollars at a time.
This time around he has a stock ticker and some meme coins. It is ostensibly much easier to funnel money at him. Park your money in his assets to show reverence.
I am wondering how the crypto community is going to handle stuff like this. They have spent so long on independence and trying to get an air of legitimacy. The the president gets to just make his own coin the defacto one of commerce, doesn't that undermine the whole mission?

Don’t forget the “candlelight dinners”.

Even worse. (As I understand it) The payoffs are publically anonymous, but privately verifiable.

How long until a bunch of Trump's stablecoin is stolen?
That will be... entertaining.

Can't wait for this to be hidden from the front page.

I invoke godwins law on you. That sort of attitude about the world is how travesties of justice and human rights still happen.
Edit: turns out godwins law is about analogies in poor taste, rather than geopolitical discussion.

I'm not saying getting hidden would be a good thing.
Just that it would happen.
Every time something like this comes out, his supporters mass flag the article no matter how relevant it is to tech. Browsing /active is the only way to see some of these.
In their defense, if every atrocity and grift this administration committed were allowed free and fair voting on HN, it would completely clog the front page.
