Decent article. There's two likely paths:

1. The claim of super early life gets walked back. This is how paleontology works, there's always automatic gainsaying of any hypothesis.

2. Paleontologists decide that panspermia is a viable explanation. Discovery of Martian or ice moon DNA life would reinforce this.
