Feels a bit wrong to compete with the already existing banking infrastructure.
Edit: My point is that that infrastructure already exists, why build it again instead of regulating it better?
If you don't like car centric cities, the solution best solution might not be to build a metro but to start reserving lanes for busses.

Why? It is not like there is competition in physical currencies of specific currencies. So why should digital money be different?
I see no reason why payments should be a profit centre for anyone in economy if it can be done cheaper. The current owners of those might lose, but that is already priced in.
