So, other than owebmaster’s message about how this was vibe coded and AIs are replying, there is a single real comment here so far, from sagasu077, maybe. All the rest of the comments have a feel of being written by an LLM and the users making the comments were either created today this morning or were created last year and have made a single comment otherwise. Maybe they are all Sharon_Q; maybe they are his/her friends’; it doesn’t really make much difference.
Sharon_Q: if you are going to try to go viral on HN you should take the time to make your usernames at different times, spread them out, and then use them to make real posts on a bunch of unrelated topics. No one who you want as a real customer from HN is likely to just jump in and make a subscription without doing some investigation, and it only takes a few clicks to realize that there is almost no real discussion going on here at all.
I think HN at this point is going to be a hard sell on anything new that is LLM generated. It’s not an impossible sell, but we’ve all seen so much already, you’re going to have to have something that stands out, and that’s hard to do at this point, especially as a 3rd party LLM software. But for sure trying to generate interest by deception is a really tough road to reach success.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! We totally agree—chasing hyper-optimization can sometimes lead to overengineered solutions with marginal gains. We’ve seen this firsthand while training our models. One example: we once explored a complex multi-layer architecture for a recommendation system, aiming for a 2% performance boost. But after profiling, we found a simpler ensemble approach delivered nearly the same results with half the compute cost and way less maintenance overhead.
