Hey HN, I built Shadow Reader as an alternative to Adobe Acrobat, optimized for reading dense PDFs in comfort.

I was frustrated by clunky interfaces, poor dark mode support, and distracting toolbars while reading academic papers and books. Shadow Reader is web-based, distraction-free, and built for deep reading with clean dark mode, highlighting, note-taking, and keyboard shortcuts that don’t get in your way.
