Ask HN: Has ChatGPT been trained on Hacker News comments?

I was curious to see if HN comments are something ChatGPT also has access to. Apparently it does.

Prompt 1:

who said this on hackernews: For a Linux user, you can already build such a system yourself quite trivially by getting an FTP account, mounting it locally with curlftpfs, and then using SVN or CVS on the mounted filesystem. From Windows or Mac, this FTP account could be accessed through built-in software. (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9224)

Prompt 2:

"Meta is dangerous" so a safe meta-language within a language will have "fences" to protect.

Who said it? (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11941131)

Were you able to get it to find these quotes without searching the web? (GPT-4o does that search by default) I couldn't, though it made educated guesses as to who and when.

But it's clearly familiar with HN. Just not particulars, that I can tell.

if meta is willing to torrent copyrighted books, it wouldn't be crazy to think that they would scrape this site.
