My wife and I spent a year in a coastal town not far from Beaufort, and the rising water was an everyday reality there. It's very much Trump country, so people don't really talk about "climate change", but no matter your politics you can't ignore the flooding you see with your own eyes. New houses there are all being built up on stilts, six or eight feet above the ground; building contractors are doing a busy trade lifting older houses in like fashion.
