The tagline is a bit confusing. Saying a movie is “on” a website strongly implies the film is directly watchable on that site (e.g. “best films on Netflix this month”). So at first I thought maybe this was perhaps about the best illustrative video clips uploaded to Wikipedia, or public domain films.

A clearer description might be “Discover the best movies through Wikipedia” or “via Wikipedia”. Or perhaps some like “Using Wikipedia to discover the best movies”.

> Then I started to notice a pattern among the few movies I totally enjoyed: when I looked them up on Wikipedia, every single article stated that the film had received acclaim from critics.

That's a neat idea of how to find movies on Wikipedia, but for me critical acclaim has not been very correlated with quality ("best movies"). In the last 10 years the correlation has been markedly negative. Maybe it's just me.

Intriguing idea - I enjoy my own process of media discovery and critique, so I couldn’t see paying someone else to do it for me, but I feel like I can see the appeal, if I were that kind of person.

It'd be nice to filter by language too.

Interesting idea, what inspired you to build this?

coz I noticed a pattern that the few movies I truly enjoyed were "critically acclaimed" in their Wikipedia article. And what pushed me to finish this project was I was also getting tired of the same 50 movies recommended to me by algo, lists, and on social media.
