Ask HN: Alternatives to Deploys per Million Metric?

Are there any good alternatives to this performance metric? My company wants to increase this by 10% year over year. My team is actually slipping from last year, but we have explainable reasons, such as mire feature work and fewer production incidents. The prod incidents are usually quick fixes that result in a faster deployment turnaround. Often times the regular storied get deployed in groups instead of individually just due to the timing of their completion. It also seems this number doesn't account for inflation. So the denominator will grow by about 3% each year with the cost of living adjustments.

The best option would be to evaluate actual value delivered, but that's too complex and my company doesn't want to go that route.

It seems a better formula would be something like: stories or points completed / inflation adjusted cost
