I remember talking to a guy I worked with, years ago, who had kids in college who got admitted to schools that had a "free tuition for < $x/year". He said he had to fill out a 20-page form including what year and model car(s) he drove to try to qualify for it (he didn't, even though his actual salary was under the limit).
