Violation of Bell inequality with unentangled photons

Just the opposite. It's evidence that there are no hidden layers, at least not local ones. (You can have hidden layers, such as with superdeterminism, but that doesn't really seem any more satisfying. The layers are "hidden" at the beginning of the universe.)
