Visa Offers Apple Roughly $100M to Take over Credit Card from Mastercard

Why does Apple deal with these networks instead of trying to remove them as intermediaries? Given all the discussions around censorship I would love to see these companies (Visa, Mastercard) unseated. Then again, Apple is probably not as pro free speech as we’d like, given their practices in the App Store and elsewhere.
