Researchers adapted the PREVENT equations to calculate the age of your heart (published in JAMA Cardiology this week).
The PREVENT equations are statistical models that predict your risk of a heart attack, stroke, or other cardiovascular event over the course of 10 or 30 years. They replace the previous ASCVD risk equations.
While this new heart age calculator technically captures the same information as cardiovascular risk, I really like the "heart age" framing. It's more positive (something you might optimize) and easier to interpret (is your heart age below or above your actual age?)
