>I read all about the hysterical right-wing reaction
This far in, it's already clear that this is not insightful political discussion material. Assuming we give the title a pass. The content immediately jumps into conflating "conservative", "right-wing", "reactionary" and all sorts of other labels describing aspects of the political right. One would expect a publication called "Jacobin" to understand these distinctions.
Productive political discussion comes from figuring out what positions others hold, why they hold them, and what it would take to change their minds. It does not come from provocation and mockery of an out-group.
If I submitted an article from anywhere about how "liberals are losing it over" some other recent pop-culture thing — say, for example, that new American Eagle jeans ad, since I've noticed a handful of right-wing sources making fun of the critics, while The Daily Show put a video on Youtube apparently aghast that Republicans are apparently defending it (I didn't watch; it showed up in recommendations in an incognito tab) — I would expect that to be immediately flagged and killed, and I would consider that a correct and justified outcome. A title like that is supremely uncharitable and makes an absurd conflation between multiple degrees and kinds of left-wing thought.
This is not any different.

Is it really notable that a work of fiction would flatter its author's ideology?
I wonder how different the movie would have been, if instead of one Kryptonian, it was two million, per year, and instead of saving people in danger, they made songs like I heard you want your country back, Uh-uh, you can't have that [1]
I didn't care much for the article conflating "conservatives" with Israel either.
