Show HN: I built an interactive tool to beat my study

Hey HN,

I’m Ben, a UCLA student who’s way too familiar with “just one more video” or “one more game” derailing a study session. After far too many hours squashed into my gaming chair instead of hitting the books, I decided to do something about it. Enter Octivus - my attempt to turn studying into something as addictive as a game.

I started building this for myself, but after a couple of failed launches, I asked my friends at other colleges and realized we all share similar procrastination problems. Their stories gave me ideas for making Octivus more addicting (by including addictive backgrounds, study games - like endless runner video game, matching game, flashcards, etc.), and productivity hacks (like a calendar in underwater theme).

If you’re juggling assignments, exams, or just trying to keep your focus alive, give Octivus a spin. If you love it, I'm glad, and if you hate it, please let me know your feedback. I’m all ears and ready to make this thing better.

Thanks for checking it out, and here’s to fewer distractions (and more A’s)!
