Show HN: Technical diagrams were slowing me down, so I built a faster way
I’ve been working on a side project called RapidChart for the past few months — a tool for generating technical/system design diagrams more easily.
Over the years, I’ve had to create countless diagrams for companies and personal projects. Every time, it’s the same story: fiddling with layout tools, dragging boxes, aligning arrows… It adds hours of work for something that should be fast and clear.
So I built RapidChart to speed things up.
How RapidChart works:
It’s completely free
It uses a cursor-like interface for diagram generation
It’s 100% customizable
You can iterate with AI and choose your favorite LLMs (GPT-4, Claude, etc.)
This originally started as part of my research project at Imperial College London, and I’d love some honest feedback.
If you think it’s terrible, please tell me why. If it’s useful or interesting, I’d love to hear that too!
Thanks!
