You don't have to use Nix to manage your dotfiles

I'm not especially convinced that the authors cure here is better than the disease. Often my dot files require a bit of build time logic though (such as building a python script (and dependency environment) to generate a RSS feed as part of my newsboat config), so using nix to build everything is a no brainer.
