Ask HN: What is the ultimate secret to growth?

I've noticed if at all there is any advice that is universally applicable overarching discipline, motivation, ... is growth.

Plain and simple.

The way to grow is so subtle, so easy to miss, negligent from afar and in the long run catches up to you. I've noticed going from someone who used to sweat profusely while ordering food to able to go and talk to anybody. But it didn't come consciously, it came after a long long time of screw ups and medicore experiences and just exchanges I wouldn't have thought led anywhere. It definitely is non linear atleast from my experience. SO I'm curious to know what you folks think is the best way to grow

Best way to grow is to find something you're intrinsically motivated to do.

I know I can't really argue with advice but I feel intrinsic motivation is dependent on your upbringing, random factors so I have to say this rubs me the wrong way but is somewhat sound

If I'm not misunderstanding you, I'd say: head in the direction of discomfort and embrace it.

I think that is fine advice. I wish it be ground down more as the opposite of what is comfortable encompasses a huge spectra of discomfort.
