I know this is gatekeeping, but if you’re playing Minecraft and you’re not playing modded Java edition, you’re not playing the right game.

Shrug to each their own. I just like hollowing out large areas underground and using the cobblestone to build castles. Modded versions of the game don't add much to that.

Sure, to each their own, but that's kind of like saying you enjoy playing zero sidequests in Skyrim or Oblivion.

You're quite obviously missing a large chunk (heh) of what makes the game appealing.

If there was one mod I'd pitch to most Minecraft players to motivate them to install mods in the first place it would be the Create mod and its ecosystem.

I would guess that Microsoft discontinuing support for VR was partially due to the fact that the vast majority of VR players in Minecraft are not using Microsoft's own method of doing so. Vivecraft is almost certainly far more popular.

I think it's more like saying that I enjoy playing those games with zero mods (which is true).

To you. I see it as a big Lego bin that you explore for parts, and build creatively within the limitations. When I play it, honestly I play it a lot like I did 15 years ago, just with more variety and options added to the base game since then. Build a fun base, explore around, dig a crazy-looking mine, build a railroad to a few villages, build some redstone-controlled automatic doors or something...

I'm rarely on the Java version anymore though; most of the appeal now is playing with my kid, who primarily has access to Bedrock, via tablet.

Could be. I just bought a used PSVR a few months ago, and VR Minecraft on PS4 was a mix between pretty cool, slightly janky, and slightly nauseating. I'm glad I got to try it for a bit before it disappeared, but I can see why it wouldn't be that popular.

If you like this you would love the create mod. Elevators, contraptions (trains with doors), assembly lines, etc.
