"Plans" is an overstatment here.

The whole US tariffs policy is not planned nor thought about at all. It's just a game, of an old guy who's changing his mind 10 times per week. Maybe he is crazy, maybe it's for the publicity, or maybe (most probably) people around him make huge profits by taking the right bets on the market, knowing a bit in advance what he will announce next.

"Liberation day" was only 3 months ago. It seems like it was 3 years already.

I mean China supplies almost all the refined graphite that Tesla and other car companies and suppliers use to make batteries, I though that some sort of a trade deal concerning rare metals had been agreed on during the London summit but I stand corrected. Unsure if this has been exacerbated by the trump / musk interfighting
